About the Book

You have the years of experience. You obtained the educational requirements. You have mastered the skills and abilities such that you can perform them in your sleep. You know it’s time to move up the career ladder. You see the job posting and think to yourself, I can do this!

First, you talk yourself out of applying for the position and listen to that negative, nay-saying voice in your head that says your education, training and experiences are not enough. Is this you?

Next, you gather the courage to apply for the position. You prepare for the interview and receive the “Dear Jane letter”, stating that your interview was great, they enjoyed meeting you, but you will not be moving on to the next level. Is this you?

Next, you apply for a similar position at least one or two more times. You know the skills and qualifications of the other candidates as you’ve been colleagues for some time now. You make it to the final round of both interviews only to be told the hiring agency decided to go with the other finalist? Is this you?

If this is you, Girl It’s Time to Get Moving!

I know exactly how that feels. Fifteen years ago, I experienced the same feelings. I was ready to move to the next level in my career but felt stuck. I could not believe after 15 years of working in nearly every specialty area of the Parks and Recreation profession, sacrificing personal time, resources and oftentimes working without additional pay, I was overlooked for an upper-level management position that I was well-qualified to receive. After being hurt and disappointed about this situation, I applied for a similar position and was not selected for that one either. Now I began questioning my skills and abilities, even though I knew my qualifications and experience were more than enough to move into an upper-level management position.

Three days later, I decided that I had to get moving in a new direction to achieve my dream of pursuing an upper-level management career. This self-help book sheds a bright light on the challenges women like you and I face in the workplace and provides tips, strategies and action plans that will help you unlock your career pathway to upper-level management.

In this self-help book, you will discover how to move from entry and mid-level management to upper-level management positions by shifting your mindsets, strengthening your belief systems and developing strategies for success in the workplace.

This is the blueprint to help you reach your upper-level management career goals.

The 4 most important tips:

01

Shift from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset and create opportunities that can change your career trajectory

02

Develop daily habits that will help you mentally prepare for each day, strengthen your belief system and reduce stress and anxiety.

Why I wrote my book

I wrote this book to empower and inspire the next generation of women leaders to “Get Moving” and make their career dreams come true. These future leaders have experienced some career success and are ready to move up the career ladder.
